What is CLB 7 in French?
CLB 7 (NCLC 7) is the French level IRCC rewards most in Express Entry: up to 50 extra CRS points and eligibility for French-category draws. It is roughly B2, and you need it in all four modules of TEF Canada or TCF Canada.
Is it NCLC 7 or CLB 7?
NCLC is the French name (Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens) and CLB is the English name. IRCC treats them as the same scale, so NCLC 7 and CLB 7 are the same level. TEF and TCF results are reported in NCLC.
How to score CLB 7 in TEF?
Reach the CLB 7 band in all four TEF Canada modules in one sitting: Reading 434, Writing 428, Listening 434 and Speaking 456 on the 0 to 699 scale. Writing and speaking are marked on a fixed examiner grid, so practice with feedback marked the same way is what moves your score. That is how TFA classes and our 300+ mock tests are built.
Can I get CLB 7 in French in 6 months?
Yes. On our 5-day plan, consistent students reach CLB 7 in 6 to 8 months from scratch, and sooner if you already know some French. Your demo class includes a level check, so we can tell you honestly whether 6 months is realistic for you.
How long it takes to get CLB 7 in French?
On average, TFA students reach CLB 7 in about 8 months from zero: 8 to 10 months on the 3-day plan, 6 to 8 on the 5-day plan. Self-study or a generic French course usually takes 2 to 3 years because it is not built around the TEF and TCF exam.
Should I take TEF Canada or TCF Canada?
Both are accepted by IRCC for Express Entry and count identically for points. They differ in format and question style. We prepare students for both, and in your demo class we help you choose the one that suits your strengths and your timeline.
When are classes held? I work full time.
Classes run seven days a week, with morning, evening, and weekend batches in Eastern Time. Individual plans are scheduled around your availability, and you can reschedule a class when work gets in the way.
What exactly is included in my plan?
Live classes with your tutor, a structured syllabus from your current level to CLB 7, full access to our student portal with 300+ TEF and TCF mock tests, study materials, homework, and progress tracking. There are no hidden add-ons.
I already know some French. Do I have to start from the beginning?
No. Your demo class includes a level assessment, and you join the syllabus at your actual level. Many of our students come to us at A2 or B1 specifically for exam preparation and the final push to CLB 7.
Can I cancel my plan?
Yes. Plans are monthly with no long-term contract. You can cancel any month, and payments are handled securely through Stripe.
