Learn French online with a real teacher—not another recorded course
Our classes happen live. You speak, ask questions, practise with a tutor, and receive correction in real time. A connected curriculum gives your learning direction, while your tutor adjusts explanations and feedback to the progress they see in class.
Recorded lessons and language apps can be useful for review, but they cannot always explain why a sentence sounds unnatural or respond to a pronunciation habit. Live teaching turns French from something you recognize into something you can use with another person.
Speak in every class
French becomes more comfortable when you produce it regularly. You may answer guided questions, practise a role-play, describe an experience, give an opinion, or respond to an exam-style prompt while your tutor corrects pronunciation, word choice, grammar, and structure. For exam-bound students, this includes TEF and TCF Expression Orale drills in the same role-play formats you will meet on test day, with individual feedback on every attempt. The tasks grow with your level; the expectation that you participate does not.
Follow a connected A1–B2 curriculum
Our online French courses follow a clear progression through A1, A2, B1, and B2 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Each stage builds on the one before it, bringing grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and the four language skills together rather than teaching them as isolated topics.

Get feedback while it still matters
Feedback is most useful when it follows something you have just said or written. Your tutor can show where an error occurred, explain the pattern, and let you try again. Between lessons, assigned practice helps you revisit the same skill independently.
Progress is supported through tutor feedback, homework, assignments, tests, and level checkpoints. Homework, assignments, regular tests, and tutor feedback apply to every current plan, and every class is recorded so you can review it.
Study on a schedule that fits real life
We offer group and private formats with morning (8 a.m.–12 p.m. ET) and evening (8 p.m.–12 a.m. ET) windows: group classes run 20 one-hour classes per month (Monday to Friday), private classes run 12 per month (3 days a week), and private fast-track runs 20 per month (Monday to Friday). Groups follow a shared timetable; private classes allow greater flexibility.

How our online French classes work
1. Tell us your level, goal, and schedule
Complete beginners can start at A1. If you have studied before, the demo class, which doubles as a tutor-led level check, helps identify your entry point. We also consider whether your goal is everyday communication, work, personal growth, or a future TEF/TCF Canada exam.
2. Choose a small-group or private plan
Small groups offer peer conversation, a regular rhythm, and a lower monthly cost than private instruction. Private classes focus more closely on your needs and schedule; a higher-frequency fast-track plan suits learners with more weekly availability.
3. Meet your tutor live on Google Meet
You join at the scheduled time and work with your tutor in real time. Use a stable connection, a computer or tablet, a working microphone, and a quiet place to speak. A camera is recommended where possible.
4. Practise between lessons
Between lessons, you may review vocabulary, complete grammar or writing work, practise listening, prepare a speaking task, or revisit corrections. Exam-focused learners may also complete timed practice. Grammar guides, vocabulary lists, audio resources, practice questions, and TEF/TCF practice exams are included in every plan.
5. Track progress toward the next level
Assignments, tests, tutor observations, and level outcomes show what is secure and what needs attention. Progress depends on your starting point, attendance, lesson frequency, practice, and goal; course completion does not guarantee a score or timeline.

CEFR describes general language ability. TEF Canada and TCF Canada results are reported through exam-specific scores and Canadian NCLC/CLB equivalencies. Reaching or completing a general level does not automatically produce a particular exam result.
Small-group and private online French classes
The right format depends on how you like to learn, how much flexibility you need, and how intensively you can study. Both formats use live teaching; the difference is where the interaction and pacing come from.
Small-group classes
Learn with a consistent cohort, practise with classmates, and follow a fixed weekly rhythm. You hear different voices, learn from other questions, and use French beyond a tutor-student dialogue.

Work one-to-one with a tutor who can adjust lessons to your level, recurring errors, goals, and progress. Private classes provide more individual speaking time and closer attention to particular skills.

What happens in a live online French class?
A good live lesson connects previous work to a new skill, creates time to use it, and ends with a clear next step. The balance changes by level and goal, but a lesson may follow this sequence:
- Speaking warm-up and review. Earlier vocabulary or grammar returns in conversation.
- New language in context. A dialogue, text, audio clip, situation, or exam prompt introduces the focus.
- Guided skill work. You examine the grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, listening, or reading pattern.
- Active production and correction. You speak or write, examine errors, and apply the correction.
- Recap and next milestone. You clarify questions and leave with focused practice.
Beginners might work toward ordering food, making an appointment, or describing a routine. At B1 or B2, learners compare viewpoints, summarize, write connected responses, or defend opinions. Exam preparation adds timed tasks and format-specific criteria.

If Canadian immigration is your goal, we can tailor your learning toward the language ability and exam skills needed for TEF Canada or TCF Canada. We provide French-language and exam preparation, not immigration advice, and no school can guarantee a particular score or PR outcome.
Our A1–B2 pathway builds general French first. When exam preparation becomes appropriate, focused work can cover all four skills, timed practice, mock exams, task strategies, and feedback. Schedule
We provide morning (8 a.m.–12 p.m. ET) and evening (8 p.m.–12 a.m. ET) options across three frequencies: group 20 classes/month (Mon–Fri), private 12 classes/month (3 days a week), and private fast-track 20 classes/month (Mon–Fri). Group learners join a set cohort time. Private learners have more scheduling flexibility, subject to tutor availability. What is included
Every plan includes grammar guides, vocabulary lists, audio resources, homework and assignments, and practice exams and mock tests. There is no registration fee and no plan-specific exceptions; nothing is sold separately.
Technology
Classes use Google Meet. You need reliable internet, a compatible device, and a microphone. Headphones can improve listening and pronunciation work. Your class link and learning materials are shared after enrollment in a welcome email, typically within 24 to 48 hours.
If your connection drops, rejoin and contact us if the issue continues. Every class is recorded, so nothing is lost to a dropped connection.
Attendance and missed classes
Regular attendance keeps lessons connected. Every class is recorded and recordings are included in every plan, so a missed class can be reviewed in full. Group and private formats may have different rescheduling rules. Review our class terms.

Are your French classes live or prerecorded?

Can a complete beginner learn French online with TFA?
Yes. A1 requires no prior French and builds pronunciation, vocabulary, sentence patterns, and simple exchanges. Returning learners use the demo class, which doubles as a tutor-led level check, to determine whether A1, A2, B1, or B2 is appropriate.
What French levels do you teach online?

How do group and private classes differ?

What happens during an online lesson?
A lesson connects review, a new language focus, guided practice, speaking or writing, live correction, and a next task. Beginners may work through an everyday exchange; advanced or exam-focused learners may respond to longer texts, audio, or timed prompts.
How long does it take to learn French online?
Our full A1 to B2 program typically takes 10 to 12 months in group classes (20 classes a month), 8 to 10 months on the 12-class individual plan, or 6 to 8 months on the 20-class fast-track. Starting from zero, plan roughly 8 to 12 months to reach CLB 7-level French; from a solid A2 or B1 base, 4 to 6 months of focused, exam-style practice is realistic. Attendance, practice between classes, and your starting level move these numbers in both directions.
Are learning materials included?
Yes. Every plan includes grammar guides, vocabulary lists, audio resources, homework and assignments, practice questions, and TEF/TCF practice exams and mock tests, delivered with your welcome email after enrollment. There are no exceptions by plan and no extra materials fees.
How much do online French classes cost?
Group classes are $249 per month for 20 live classes. Private 1-to-1 plans are $369 per month for 12 classes, or $549 per month for 20 classes on the fast-track. Can I prepare for TEF Canada or TCF Canada online?
Yes. We provide online preparation for TEF Canada and TCF Canada alongside our general A1–B2 pathway. Preparation can address speaking, listening, reading, writing, timed tasks, mock exams, strategies, and tutor feedback; mock tests and practice questions are included in every plan. We teach French and exam skills; we do not provide immigration advice or guarantee a score or PR outcome.
Do I get a certificate when I finish?
Yes. You receive a certificate of completion at the end of your program. Keep in mind that for permanent residence, IRCC accepts only official TEF Canada or TCF Canada results as proof of French; our classes and mock tests prepare you for those exams.
Can I join from anywhere in Canada?
Yes. Because classes are live online, learners can join from across Canada, subject to tutor schedules and time-zone availability. Toronto is our home, but you do not need to travel to attend an online class. All class times run on Eastern time.
What technology do I need?
You need a stable internet connection, a computer or tablet that supports Google Meet, and a working microphone. Headphones are helpful for clear audio, and a camera is recommended where possible. Choose a quiet location where you can speak during the lesson rather than only listen.
